Key Capture Energy is seeing a Director of Health, Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) that will be responsible for assembling and maintaining a complete HSEQ program for fast growing Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) company. This position has the potential to improve the entire BESS industry regarding safety by leading working groups and increasing safety perspective.


1.) Develop, implement, maintain and administer a complete health safety, environmental and quality program for Key Capture Energy as a wholistic program including but not limited to the Battery Energy Storage System projects and substations
2.) Oversee battery-related safety tests on KCE BESS projects, including battery short circuit testing and fuse clearing
Maintain and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and codes as well as all internal Key Capture Energy policies and procedures and ensure and that OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met
3.) Conduct audits of work practices and processes for potential safety hazards and to ensure compliance with all KCE policies, procedures, reports findings and recommendations to management
4.) Inspect construction and operating sites and associated machinery for potential hazards and ensures compliance with all state and federal laws
5.) Travel to various project sites and ensure all health, safety, environmental and quality protocols are being followed
6.) Monitor and track all incidents, report trends, and projections required to set safety, environmental and quality goals for each department
7.) Conduct investigations of workplace accidents, injuries and job site safety and make recommendations to correct any issues by performing Root Cause Analyses, implementing appropriate corrective actions and ensuring that they are implemented
8.) Provide expertise and training to management and employees on issues related to health, safety, environmental and quality
9.) Develop training materials that reduces employee’s exposure to hazardous materials and situations
10.) Assist with the development of the HSEQ department budget
11.) Drive HSEQ culture with all aspects of KCE’s assets, offices, and sites
12.) All other duties as required.


  1. Experience with OSHA, UL and NFPA standards
  2. At least five years industry experience with BESS experience preferred
  3. Proven leadership experience
  4. Capable of assembling a complete HSEQ program for that will be easily scalable as the company grows quickly
  5. Desire to influence an industry by leading working groups to improve the entire BESS industry regarding safety
  6. Knowledgeable in leading a team through a quantitative issue analysis and hazard identifications
  7. Experienced in health, safety, environmental quality & policies, procedures and industry best practices
