Employees in this role will develop models, price energy derivatives, design and perform quantitative studies and analyses of spot/forward prices and volatilities for making pricing, trading, and risk management decisions. This position assists in the development of core algorithms and models to support trading, origination, and asset optimization decisions. Expected to participate in the full cycle of KCE’s projects, helping to identify specific locations of high value to the development team, provide guidance for financial analysis, and to create strategies to optimize battery storage in the wholesale markets.


  1. Assist in the optimization of KCE’s bidding strategies into the wholesale market
  2. Analyze short, medium and long-term trends in specific markets (ERCOT, NYISO, etc) that impact daily power scheduling and dispatch of energy storage products
  3. Conduct short and long-term analysis into market trends that present opportunities and challenges for battery storage
  4. Design and construct risk management tools used in evaluating KCE’s risk profile and exposure levels
  5. Assist development of energy price forecast, forward curve, and volatility models
  6. Interface with QSEs and third-party power marketers to implement KCE’s bidding strategies
  7. Develop new quantitative models to solve business problems related to the economics of battery storage


  1. Deep and demonstrated understanding of wholesale power markets
  2. Preferred background in mathematics, econometrics and/or statistics
  3. Ability to identify and assess business opportunities and threats in the entire energy space
  4. Very motivated self-starter with strong organizational and time-management skills
  5. Ability to work well in a small team
