Key Capture Energy has partnered with Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R) to construct and operate KCE NY3, a battery storage facility, currently under development, that will be part of O&R’s Pomona Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Program.

In addition to creating new jobs and fostering economic opportunity in the utility’s service territory, the Pomona DER Program will enable O&R to defer costly electrical system upgrades and reduce emissions from power plants while increasing power grid reliability and creating value for the utility’s 300,000 ratepayers. The battery for Pomona will connect to the O&R system through O&R’s overhead distribution lines and will allow O&R to delay building costly new infrastructure designed to accommodate energy use at its peak — an event that occurs only a few times during the year.
